Day 168 in the Big Antipodean Adventure

Went sailing today on Al’s folk’s boat, a great 46ft not exactly tan weather but that’s cool and it was fun sailing weather.

Day 150 in the Big Antipodean Adventure

Managed to get out on the water today, rather than in it, as the 2nd of October is Labour day in New South Wales, Australia.

A leisurely start to the day at about eleven down to the marina for some scrambled egg breakfast and a good coffee, then on to the Beneteau 33.7. The day started with a gentle breeze which gradually picked up.

We made it a little bit further than expected... to the South Pacific Ocean! Where we did two runs or so before our boat really began to feel rather small and we turned back. Just at this point we decided to put a reef in and we managed this just in the nick of time as two minutes later the wind picked up and we quickly had some serious sailing to do.

Amazingly we made it all the way back from the mouth to Rushcutters bay with only 3 tacks!

Oh yeah, just as we made it to the Ocean a great old ship was coming in and I managed to grab some pictures. I will post them as soon as they are developed, (using someone else’s camera).



Great day followed with some roadies at the Cruise in Circular key, then home for a massive steak!
